Hot & Bothered

During the heat wave this Juneteenth, I wonder what will become of the people without roofs over their heads?

LISTENING: to the birds chirp
FEELING: hot!
SEEING: people walk by outside

It's Juneteenth today, and I'm seated on my balcony. It's too hot to be out here. I should go inside, but my heart feels broken. I'm hoping the birds and the trees can help put it back together. It's been a shitty week, so let's get into it.

Welcome to Possibilities, a creative climate newsletter on the possibilities that lie where crisis meets community. I’m Yessenia Funes, and I believe housing should be a human right.

I know this is one of my soapboxes — I feel like I write about this a lot, and I'm sorry if it feels repetitive. But this is freshly on my mind after some personal turmoil.
